
Jeca Rodríguez Colón, 2013 (and Invited Alumni Faculty 2015–16)
Jeca Rodríguez Colón (she/her) is a Puerto Rican multi-disciplinary artist and a scholar living in New York City. She holds a PhD in Philosophy, Aesthetics and Art Theory from IDSVA. Through her academic and creative work, she questions the societal prescription of motherhood and how aesthetic representations of the maternal influence maternal subjectivity and performances. Her work has been presented in the Americas, Europe and at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Tapei. Jeca was also part of the EmergeLab at BAX in 2014 and participated at the Encuentro in Montreal. She is currently a faculty member of the SVA’s artist residency program.
